League Format
1. Eight team league tournament where every team plays each other once (7 games in total)
2. All matches are played 8-a-side (8v8) with a maximum squad of 10 on match days (8 team players + 2 substitutes)
3. Teams play their 7 matches over a 10 week period with each team having 3 "rest weeks"
4. The opening day of the league is Wednesday June 18th and the final day is Wednesday August 20th
5. A maximum of 3 games will take place at the same venue and time each week across 3 pitches
6. Matches will be played over 50 minutes consisting of 2 x 25 minute halves with a 5 minute interval
7. A POWER PLAY rule will be used throughout the league meaning if a team goes 4 or 6 goals ahead during a match, the team losing will be allowed to introduce 1 extra player (for a 4 or 5 goal difference) or 2 extra players (for a 6+ goal difference). Once a lead has been reduced to below 6 or 4, the team must revert to the correct number of players.
7. The winners of the league will be the team who accumulate the most points over the 10 weeks with 3 points for a WIN, 1 point for a DRAW and 0 points for a LOSS
In the event of a tie, the league winners will be decided by the following criteria in order:
i) the head to head record between the teams
ii) the total number of games won
iii) goal difference
League Rules
1. Teams:
Teams can choose from a maximum of 20 players to form their match day squads in order to have sufficient cover over the summer holiday period. Teams will be asked to provide their squad lists before the league starts. Match day squads should consist of a minimum number of 8 players and a maximum of 10. Unlimited rolling substitutes are allowed throughout the match, during breaks in play and with the permission of the referee.
2. Players
All players must be associated with the teams they represent and are either a current or former member of that club. So no sneaking in any Lionesses who didn't make the Euros squad. We would also respectfully request the average age of your match day squad is 35 years old. We won't be asking for birth certificates and will trust each team to comply with this.
3. Insurance
All participating teams must confirm they have adequate insurance cover (public liability and personal injury) in place over the duration of the league
4. Behaviour
All participating teams commit to the league's code of conduct at all times which can be found here
5. Payment
Teams are requested to ensure prompt payment of tournament fees (tbc).
6. Reporting
Teams are requested to report the score of their match by midnight of the day the match took place by email to hello@swansfootball.co.uk
